ADI International

July 2006 News & Events

ADI International, a trade name in the Honeywell International Group, is a leading single-source supplier of security and low voltage solutions with over 34 branch locations across 14 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa. ADI is a well-established and successful distributor in North America with over 100 branch locations.

As a 'one-stop' strategic distribution business within Honeywell's Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) Group, ADI offers a comprehensive, awarding-winning product portfolio that addresses CCTV, intrusion, access control, fire detection, sound and communication, home automation, voice and data, hardware and HVAC systems.

ADI International supplies all products into the market through an extensive network of business partners across South Africa with the backing of high-level pre- and post-sales services.

Hunter-Pro 832 RSA

Available from ADI, Hunter-Pro 832 RSA is an internationally well-known intruder alarm panel, easy to install and simple to operate. This notion is supported by installers that tested it and reported "a very easy and intuitive installation (no manual is required)". This hybrid panel provides up to 32 wired or wireless zones, and up to 16 true partitions. Haim Dembsky, PIMA's VP of Research and Development, made a trip to the Republic of South Africa to meet installers and study the market requirements. Consequently, PIMA engineering implemented changes to the panel's international version, to meet bylaw #25 and other market needs.

Visonic's wireless devices, FSK and RDC long-range radios, and Martin's keyfobs for remote arming/disarming, are all seamlessly integrated into the panel to answer advanced security needs while maintaining its user-friendliness. This makes it the ideal product for small to medium size commercial and residential installations.

Hunter-Pro 832 RSA is the perfect combination of wired and wireless devices with a basic system with nine zones configuration and one tamper zone. A cost-effective zone doubling feature to 16 zones is available as well as two monitored siren outputs, one 1 A relay output and three auxiliary outputs.

The panel has a built-in phone dialler (also used for remote upload) and optional GSM/radio full-data backup channel. Hunter-Pro 832 RSA supports fast loading via a disk on-key like device for error free installations. Panel is sold with a two-year warranty against lightning (subject to by-law #25 installation) and it meets SAIA, SAIDSA bylaw #25, and telephony TE-003 standards.

RDC integration

A joint initiative between ADI International, RDC and PIMA will see the development of a full-featured control panel with an internal transmitter for data communication. The new unit will be based on PIMA's latest control panel. RDC has developed a new transmitter module, which will be able to integrate seamlessly with the panel and will offer a range of new features and benefits. The new unit will be easier to install and will present a much cleaner installation with less wiring. "We are very excited about this collaboration and the resulting product," says Lee-Ann Andreka, RDC's sales and marketing director. "The unit will be 100% IPRS compatible, and with the added features incorporated in the new transmitter, customers will be able to take full advantage of all the benefits offered by the IPRSTM network system. These benefits include the ability to send additional data including 'open up' by user name as well as zone information. The new product will be distributed exclusively by ADI International.

FSK integration

Conventionally, radio design limited the amount of information they could transmit back to the central control room. Most radios are standard with 6-8 inputs, which enables them to send signals such as alarm/panic/duress/fire, etc. FSK took a step forward when we produced a radio that can interpret contact identification information and transmit a more comprehensive range of signals such as zone and user identification. Now with the combination of the FSK radio and the PIMA control panel we are able to offer the user even more signal information than before. PIMA panel is fitted with a serial interface through which it communicates directly with the FSK transmitter. This offers the user three forms of communication from a single control panel, namely all signals via the radio transmitter, all signals via telephone communication as well as PGM outputs.

The serial communication between the panel and the radio is a comprehensive protocol that enables the radio to transmit a far greater number of signals. These include:

a. All zone intrusion signals with full zone identification.

b. All zone isolate/bypass signals.

c. All zone tamper signals.

d. All zone restorer signals.

e. Full user arming and disarming identification.

All keypad signals e.g. keypad. Fire, k/p tamper, k/p duress, and k/p emergency signals can now be identified from their source.

All control panel status signals including:

1. AC fail/restore.

2. Low battery/restore.

3. Panel tamper.

4. Loop trouble as well as siren status and many others.

This combination of radio and panel enables the user a far more comprehensive reporting system than before. It also allows security companies to identify the exact intrusion location as well as allowing them to track the movements of an intruder on the premises.

This radio and panel combination will set new standards in the security industry, improving communication and therefore service.
