Micro GPS tracking unit

May 2006 Asset Management

The E-LOMMY is a compact personal tracking device. It features a specialised integrated antenna, GPS receiver, GPRS modem and a long-life battery pack. Easily configurative, the unit provides excellent tracking performance in all conditions. The E-LOMMY offers tracking through GPRS and SMS messaging to a central server. It also has a simple one-button emergency button with GSM voice support.

The GPS module utilised inside the device is a low power 12-channel GPS chipset designed to draw only 60 mA in full power mode and as little as 20 mA on TricklePower. Able to track satellite signals down to -152 dBm, the E-LOMMY is able to get a position fix in highly attenuated environments.

For communication it relies on an integrated Siemens GPRS phone module. The unit can be opened and a standard SIM card inserted. Position updates (GPS co-ordinates) are sent via SMS or via GPRS to an HTTP web server. These positions can then be put into a mapping software application for tracking purposes.

Applications include personal tracking, vehicle tracking, container tracking or merchandise tracking. The unit can be used installed inside the dashboard of a truck or car without the need of an external antenna.
