HISSCO International, Africa's largest manufacturer of security X-ray products, has recently secured a multi-continental contract to supply over 55 baggage X-ray screening systems in 10 countries. Despite growing local and global economic challenges, the company continues to increase its presence and foothold within the security X-ray market throughout Africa and Europe.

The award comprises two specifically designated machine types: the HS5536 for small baggage and parcel screening and the HS6242 model for patrons accessing secure facilities. Together, these devices uphold security operations at the highest level.

HISSCO's Director, Andrew Hudson, commented: "We are delighted to have been granted such a prestigious contract across the continent and within Europe. After a competitive bidding process, this award further solidifies HISSCO's position as a top provider in these growing market segments. Our primary focus remains on offering customers real solutions, flexibility in our product range, competitive pricing, and excellence in service delivery. We thank the customer for entrusting us with this large-scale project and look forward to a successful implementation."

The company will begin dispatching to the customer and complete the contract during Q3 2024.

Local manufacturing

HISSCO manufactures at its facilities in southern Africa and operates in over 33 countries globally through a network of distributors and channel partners. Proudly supported by a group of expert design engineers, fabricators, and specialised technicians, the company has experience of over 100+ years collectively and an install base of around 7500 systems worldwide.

HISSCO offers a wide range of baggage scanner solutions, from standard models to those designed for large cargo screening and everything in between.

The company recently marked its 30th anniversary, showcasing 30 years of expertise in the security detection industry. Since its inception, the company's focus has remained solely on security detection systems. It has expanded its offerings into the African, European, and Middle Eastern markets and is now slowly making inroads into the USA. HISSCO is on an exponential growth strategy following its continuous success across these new regions.

Continued expansion

With demand on the rise, the company recently announced the launch date of its new EVO2 range of baggage scanners. These scanners will incorporate a sophisticated new design and a whole band of upgraded features, including artificial intelligence, a touchscreen interface, remote diagnostics, and more. The launch of these new systems is set for August 2024.

Having 30 years' experience in the African market and the different types of environments machines are subjected to has allowed the company to analyse not only its own products but also market-related systems.

This has resulted in deep data analysis on the types of components that do or do not last. On the back of this, the company has developed machines built to stand the test of time and, across its entire product range, boasts a 99.8% mean time between failure. Not only does this allow the customers to reap the benefit from a large capital purchase, but it results in very little maintenance and a significant decrease in the total cost of ownership. For this reason, HISSCO backs all of its products with industry-leading warranties of over 36 months on components and five years on its X-ray generators.
