Guard monitoring and performance evaluation

SMART Surveillance 2024 Surveillance

The AIMSS (Analytical Intelligent Management Security Solution) platform, in combination with eGuard, offers a unique experience in monitoring guard tour performances with the added value of AI technology and algorithms. BetaTrac realised the substantial beneficial effects of incorporating AI and went as far as monitoring the actual performance of the hardware in the field, looking to expose any potential failure of the unit in advance.

eGuard is the only hands-free solution that grants the guard free use of his hands instead of clutching a device on his patrols, making the device extremely reliable when in use. The system uses virtual waypoints for the checkpoint setup, so there are no costs and absolute reliability, as the waypoints cannot be tampered with.

The AIMSS platform offers service providers true transparency by allowing customers to automatically receive daily performance reporting.

Body-worn cameras have emerged as a significant technology transformation in changing law enforcement and public safety thinking globally, and South Africa is no exception. These compact, wearable video/camera devices have gained increasing prominence as a tool to enhance transparency, accountability, and the overall effectiveness of policing in the country. South Africa faces a unique set of challenges related to crime and police-community relations, corruption being just one of the issues on hand, and many are, therefore, looking to embrace the adoption of body-worn cameras to address these issues.

The initiation of body-worn cameras in South Africa marks a considerable step in the ongoing efforts to improve law enforcement practices, safeguard citizens’ rights, and encourage trust between police/security companies and the community. This technology has the potential to provide an unbiased, objective record of interactions between law enforcement officers and civilians, shedding light on occurrences that might otherwise be subject to dispute or poor interpretation.

Two types of body-worn cameras

Betatrac offers two types of BodyCams. RapidCam is a non-live device that stores video clips on an SD card for later download. The eBodyGuard ll BodyCam is a live unit with location, preview steam, an additional Panic button and PTT (Push to Talk) capabilities.

BetaTrac has created a unique and simple solution called eTrac to track and monitor visitor and courier vehicles entering housing estates. As a suspect or unknown vehicle enters the estate, the boomgate security guard places an eTrac device on the vehicle. This allows the guard house to track where the vehicle is within the estate, with a recorded history trail report.

BetaTrac is also developing a simplified solution for its patented eGun Commander platform (2017/08522,) using RFID technologies to assist security companies holding an inventory of weapons and in managing their safekeeping and usage. The solution will have unique dedicated reading tags, making the reading, tracking and tracing of the weapon in the armoury a simple action, as well as managing the allocation of weapons to officers.

Live streaming via built-in LTE/4G

Axis Communications announces AXIS W120 Body-worn camera, primarily made for law enforcement and the security sector, with built-in LTE/4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, for direct streaming via AXIS Body Worn Live. Location tracking and on-demand streaming mean wearers know someone can always see where they are and follow the action at the click of a button.

AXIS W120 offers excellent image quality and clear audio with advanced noise and wind suppression. It buffers up to 120 seconds to capture entire encounters. AXIS W120 features long battery life, on-the-go charging and fast offloading to ensure it is always ready and easy to put away.

Built on open architecture, the new camera offers easy integration with AXIS Camera Station VMS and third-party VMS and EMS, on-site or in the cloud. The system features cost-efficient docking stations with a separate system controller, making it eminently scalable.

Key features include:

• Live streaming via LTE/4G.

• Location tracking.

• Excellent sound quality.

• Multiple layers of encryption.

AXIS W120 features cybersecurity provisions that are second to none. Axis Edge Vault, the hardware-based cybersecurity platform, safeguards it and protects sensitive information. Data is encrypted with AES 256 and HTTP with TLS. Axis W120 is also CJIS compliant and lives up to official FBI standards.
