Entrance security for residential buildings

SMART Estate Security 2023 Access Control & Identity Management, Residential Estate (Industry), Products & Solutions

Home is where people should feel safe and relax. Installing a reliable access control system is vital to track and prevent non-residents from entering private areas. Paxton offers simple and quality solutions that can help keep your building secure.

Howard’s End is a residential estate in Hillcrest on the outskirts of Durban. It uses Paxton’s door entry solution Entry, with its Net2 access control system, to secure its households. Integrating Entry with Net2 provides centralised management from a PC and includes additional features such as temporary access rights and event reporting.

In the development, 11 households are secured with two Entry panels at the front gates, with one Entry monitor at each home so that residents can identify guests before granting them access to the communal grounds.

Howard’s End resident Lee Storm said, “The old security needed to be upgraded. We wanted a system that could secure multiple buildings. Entry is easy to learn, and I feel confident using it.”

Brett van den Berg from Fidelity Security, who was responsible for the project, said, “Entry was very simple to specify, quote and install. It is a fantastic product, and the sales and support team in South Africa makes things easy.”

Paxton’s smart wireless door handles could be an ideal solution for households with concerns over security during blackouts. PaxLock Pro is powered by batteries, so it can still function when the mains are out and keep the site safe. It is also compatible with Paxton’s access control systems, Net2 and Paxton10, providing an intuitive security experience.

Werner Geldenhuys, Paxton’s Regional Sales Manager in South Africa, said, “The batteries in the PaxLock Pro generally last around two years as it is designed to consume minimal energy to operate.”

“PaxLock Pro will enter sleep mode when not in use, requiring minimal energy. When someone presents their token to the door, built-in capacitive sensors will wake the unit. This minimises energy consumption, allowing longer battery life.”
