Sanyo introduces new network solutions systems

March 2003 Surveillance

Sanyo's new Network Solutions system makes remote access and viewing possible over the Internet from practically anywhere in the world.

Sanyo Network Solutions does not just handle monitoring, but performs a whole range of functions that extend from recording and playback of digital images to the control of security system devices. Making effective use of existing systems, Sanyo Network Solutions can allow for 24-hour-a-day monitoring and recording capabilities at multiple remote sites for a vast array of applications including plant facilities, shopping centres, parking lots, day-care centres, schools and many more.

Network-enabled camera

With the introduction of the new Web-enabled network camera with built-in Web server the Sanyo VCC-WB2000P is designed especially for such remote monitoring and management applications over the Internet. Furthermore, with the use of the Sanyo Network Video Server, VSP-SV2000P, it is also possible to monitor and view existing systems, both analog and digital, over the Internet.

The cameras of the existing system can either be connected directly to the Network Video Server or in the event of a larger system, the multiplexer will be connected to the Network Video Server. Moreover as SSP (Sanyo Security Protocol) is supported, compatible devices can be remotely controlled over the network, eg, pan and tilt and zoom functions.

Sanyo Network Solutions deliver the first security systems to utilise JPEG2000 as its image data format. Now with even higher image quality in even smaller files than the prior JPEG standard, JPEG2000 also eliminates 'blocking artifacts' that can occur during compression. Designed for the high level of functionality demanded by security applications with features that include a motion-detector function that responds when it senses the movement of an object in the scene, and super sensitivity enabling image capture under lighting conditions as low as 1,0 lux.

Alarm images are stored right in the camera. The Network Camera can store up to 16 MB of information. When an alarm is triggered, video images prior to the event and those following the event will be recorded. In the event of an alarm, email will be sent to a maximum of five addresses. The PC card slot on the back panel enables additional memory capacity or wireless LAN connectivity by simply inserting a wireless LAN card. Existing security systems can also easily be integrated into the Network System.
