Anviz Global has unveiled its new touchless facial recognition identity management and IoT biometric device to complement its existing range of fingerprint, facial and iris recognition biometric devices. The release of the FaceDeep5 facial recognition terminal enhances Anviz’s capability to provide varying solutions, right from stand-alone entry level T&A; applications to high-end access control requirements.

The FaceDeep5 provides a one-size-fits-all hardware solution for most applications. On top of the 5-inch IPS touch LCD it uses a dual core, Linux-based artificial intelligence capable CPU for fast and accurate facial extraction and matching. The CPU drives the BioNano deep learning algorithm and includes a large memory capability. It can store 50 000 faces onboard and facial recognition is 1:50 000 in under 300 milliseconds, while keeping 100 000 event logs.

As with all image-based systems, harsh backlight is an issue and the FaceDeep5 uses Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) cameras to compensate for poor image quality. Dual cameras allow for both Infrared and visible light technology to be deployed. Infrared is used for facial extraction while visible light is used for full 3D liveness detection and long-distance recognition. Both cameras have wide angle lenses for faster facial recognition.

FaceDeep5 is also available in an IRT (Infrared Thermal Temperature) measurement variant. This module uses thermopile IRT and is accurate to 0.3°C of the user’s core temperature at 2 metres.

Both FaceDeep5 variants are IP65 rated and can be used in external or harsh environments, although it is not recommended for the IRT variant. Both variants have a 125 kHz RFID proximity card reader as standard.

FaceDeep5 comes with the normal communication connections, including Wiegand, RS-485, RS-232, Wi-Fi and a TCP/IP network port. Locks can be triggered by either using the on-board relay or by using the SC011 single door controller. An embedded Web server allows for easy setup and device management. Currently it will communicate to the Anviz Crosschex Desktop software, but by Q1 2021 it will communicate to new Web-based Crosschex Professional and Crosschex Cloud management platforms as well.

FaceDeep5 will be available from Q4 2020.
