Re: Use Of competitors' tags

Impro has recently become aware of the fact that certain competitors are making unsubstantiated claims that tags produced by these competitors are fully compatible with Impro equipment. We feel that these claims may mislead customers into purchasing tags which, in fact, will not operate satisfactorily with all Impro products. The problems we foresee are the following:

p The new Impro range of tags may not be compatible with these tags.

p As there is no control by Impro over the numbering system used by competitors, tag ID numbers could be duplicated. Impro cannot be held responsible for such duplication of numbers and the resulting security risks which could occur.

p Impro cannot accept any responsibility for problems arising from the use of competitors' tags where these do not meet Impro specifications.

p The new low-cost Impro Omega tags are not compatible with any competitor's tags.

Quality control

A further consideration is that of quality. Impro tags are manufactured to a very high standard. The Slim Tag line is fully ISO compatible and meets the stringent ISO 7810, 7816 and 10373 standards. These tags carry a two year guarantee, and information can be printed on them using a dye-sublimation printer.

It is in therefore in the interest of ensuring reliability and the minimisation of risk in a system that distributors should advise customers on the inherent dangers of using tags from different manufacturers in place of Impro tags.

We are confident that any discount that might be offered on these pirate tags is far outweighed by the value of back-up, support and on-going development at Impro and the exorbitant cost of possible problems.

Sincerely

Errol East - Impro Technologies
