Securex 2000 set to see new exhibitor profiles

Dec '99 News & Events

As if to celebrate the dawn of the 21st Century, Securex 2000 is attracting a new breed of industrial suppliers. To date 215 stands covering 2500 m2 have been booked for this premier event showcasing the local and international security, protection and safety sectors scheduled to run from 1–3 March next year at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.

“Of those companies which have reserved space, 22 will be exhibiting for the first time at Securex,” says TML Reed Exhibitions Manager Tom McCafferty. “While the vast majority of exhibitors are veterans of past shows, it is a healthy sign that 20% are new to the event.

“Not only does it indicate that this business sector is still growing, but it is also very encouraging to see that these companies obviously believe that Securex is an important ingredient in their marketing mix.”

International flavour

Securex 2000 is expected to feature the products and solutions of about 250 companies, a significant proportion of whom will be part of the international contingent. To date, representatives from nine countries have confirmed their participation. They will come from France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Israel, Taiwan, the USA and the UK.

SASA workshops

The co-located Security Association of South Africa (SASA) workshops are invariably an important adjunct to the event, and 2000 is likely to be no exception: “On Friday, 3 March, the workshops will focus on pre-employment screening and labour law, subjects which are bound spark a lot of debate,” says SASA Conference Organiser Rosemary Cowan.

As in previous years, TML Reed will co-sponsor this important series of workshops. This time the organisers are aiming to secure the services of three international speakers, two from the US and one from Britain, to present papers on specialist topics. Sessions will be held daily from 10h00 to 14h00 on all three days of the show, so that delegates will have an opportunity to visit the exhibition as well.

“We will be finalising the details in January, but in the interim we would welcome hearing from speakers who would like to be included in the programme,” says Cowan. She points out that delegate pre-registration is open, and that SASA members are eligible for substantial discounts.
