Wavetrend in cross industry fact-finding mission

March 2003 News & Events

In a bid to penetrate a wider spectrum of industries that stand to benefit from the growth potential and diversities that radio frequency identification (RFID) technology can deliver, Wavetrend Technologies is hosting a series of seminars to identify key problem areas.

RFID solutions can be used across all industry sectors to track and trace people, assets, goods in transit, vehicles, process control, supply chain logistics or any industrial or commercial enterprise where threats to security or asset loss occurs.

Colleen Murphy, who was recently appointed as strategic business development manager at Wavetrend, is hosting focus groups whereby key people from specified industries will meet to discuss 'hot spots' and design and develop specific solutions to address high-risk areas.

"The first objective is to cast a net as wide as possible embracing captains of industries and discuss what issues most affect their bottom lines and how their business procedures may be optimised by deploying resources to eliminate risk.

"RFID technology has the potential to address these issues, but it has not been deployed to its maximum potential. Hence we have taken the initiative to explore the benefits that can be reaped by drawing from the best of breed in selected vertical markets.

"There is a common thread of risk and a need to optimise business processes throughout all aspects of industry and commerce that can be solved with RF-based solutions," says Murphy.

Wavetrend's first fact-finding workshop will focus on a wide mix of industry with executive level representation from the legal profession, fleet management, communications, office business systems, forensics, the medical profession and the auditing field.

To compile her list of industry representation Murphy has joined various associations building up a 'who's who' in a mix of industries that stand to benefit from the business optimisation procedures.

Wavetrend's role will be to identify the industries, form partnerships with key companies that can act as representatives or watchdogs of these specific vertical industries and jointly develop bespoke tools for those areas that are most threatened.
