Aluvin to manufacture benchmark products locally

March 2003 News & Events, Products & Solutions

South African manufacturer and distributor of security seals, Aluvin Securiseal, is set to enhance its market position with the local manufacture of benchmark products from Envopak and a strengthening of international alliances.

This follows the acquisition of the company's British principal, Envopak Group, by US-based Illinois Tool Works (ITW) in order to expand its security products business. ITW, a $9,3 billion diversified manufacturer with business units in 43 countries, is a leading producer of fasteners and components, equipment and consumable systems, and speciality industrial products.

The deal has seen the merger of Envopak, a UK market leader in the manufacture of re-usable security pouches as well as indicative and barrier security seals, with UK-based ITW Fastex Security Products, manufacturer of tamper-proof seals. Now called ITW Envopak, the new company takes responsibility for Envopak and Envoseal.

As sole Envopak distributor in South Africa, Aluvin now represents ITW Envopak, offering customers a comprehensive range of innovative, sophisticated products. The company has also negotiated the rights to manufacture certain Envopak/Envoseal products under licence at the company's factory in Driehoek outside Johannesburg.

"Local manufacture reduces our risks in terms of our exposure to the exchange rate and the price of logistics involved in importing. More importantly, it allows us to offer customers world-class products at very competitive prices," says Aluvin managing director, Kevin Norwitz.
