Bayer chooses Panasonic surveillance system

March 2003 Surveillance

Pharmaceutical manufacturer, Bayer, recently turned to Panasonic CCVE Systems to upgrade its surveillance system at the company's head office complex from a black-and-white analog system to a full-colour digital one.

The installation, undertaken by AR Surveillance, comprised:

* 56 x cameras (a mix of WV-CP240, WV-BP140 and Super-D models).

* Four x WJ-HD500 digital disk recorders.

* One x WV-CU360 system controller.

* Four x WV-CK1420 14-inch full colour monitors.

* Brackets, housing and assorted lenses.

André de Beer of AR Surveillance advises that the choice of Panasonic equipment was almost a foregone conclusion. "Our client had read about the Panasonic WJ-HD500 in a security trade publication and wanted to know more," says de Beer. "We therefore recommended a total system revamp using Panasonic equipment exclusively."

Bayer's Kevin McIlroy is delighted with the new system. "Panasonic's CCVE equipment is exceeding our expectations," says McIlroy. "The majority of the cameras cover the administration offices, with the balance monitoring the entrance/exit booms, the factory, stores and dispatch areas located on the same site. The new system has exceptional surveillance capabilities and has already proved to be a valuable investment from a shrinkage perspective."

Equally pleased with the installation, Panasonic CCVE Systems director Mags Anthony says, "Our systems offer the functionality and consistent high quality performance demanded by multinational, Fortune 500 companies such as Bayer. It is nevertheless gratifying to receive positive feedback from the field."
