FastTrace for banking sector applications

March 2003 Surveillance

Fraud is one of the largest crime activities affecting banks and financial institutions today. The annual cost of investigating fraudulent activity can result in significant financial loss.

Over-the-counter and ATM fraud usually involves the use of an unauthorised card/account information, counterfeit or forged cheques or, in the case of ATMs, multiple ways of obstructing the process of automatic teller transactions, eg, card withholding.

Transaction queries are typically based on either fraudulent claims or unauthorised transactions. Certain state specific statutory laws require that the investigation of a fraudulent claim be performed within a particular time frame.

Recording the evidence

In the absence of an eyewitness account, evidential quality video is imperative to verify an event.

Key criteria include:

* Method of image recording and storage.

* Verification that images are tamper-proof.

* History of handling of original evidence.

* Rapid and easy access to recorded information.

Designed to deal with fraudulent activities in the banking sector, ADPRO FastTrace is able to deliver remote monitoring and recording over a wide range of communication networks. Easily integrated with an existing security system, ADPRO FastTrace allows simultaneous access by multiple users to recorded video without interruption to the recording mode.

Features include:

* Intelligent search functions enable rapid retrieval of recorded data.

* Consistent image quality and clarity during replay.

* Flexible recording modes: continuous, scheduled and event activated, and advanced compression methodologies ensure efficient use of storage media.
