Jenny Reid, the newly appointed MD of South Africa's oldest corporate security management company, GriffithsReid, will increase her company's focus on proactive security solutions as a way of coping with increasing criminality in South African business.
"The security industry currently spends over R14 billion per year, with the vast majority of that going on purely reactive services," says Reid. She is one of a handful of women in senior management positions in the security consultancy industry.
"By getting business to concentrate more on preventative measures - which include pre-employment screening, third party security management and proactive intelligence gained through undercover work - they will be able to cut down on their reactive spend and consequently their overall security budget," says Reid.
In addition to appointing Reid as its new MD, the company has also changed its name from Griffiths and Associates to Griffiths Reid, in line with its refocus on the corporate market's needs. "The company has developed a number of new services in addition to its already existing portfolio, and will now offer independent security management, corporate intelligence, investigations, and workforce motivation," concludes Reid.
