For the past 11 years ADT Security armed response officer, Simon 'Stopper' Moshoma has raced to crime-related incidents, often facing life and death situations, without once having an accident on the road.
In recognition of this noteworthy feat, ADT Security recently rewarded Officer Moshoma with a brand new Ford Bantam bakkie - virtually identical to the one he drives every time he is on duty.
According to Moshoma, who joined the company at the age of 25, his success can be attributed to keeping any personal problems he may have away from his working environment and absolute concentration when driving to an incident.
Says Keith Alberts, managing director of ADT Security Johannesburg, "It certainly takes some degree of skill to drive a response car through Johannesburg traffic, often at peak hour, for 11 years without having some kind of road accident.
"Whether patrolling or simply responding to a panic situation our armed response officers always have to remain fully aware of what is going on around them. Stopper Moshoma consistently managed to do this, showing all our officers that a clean record is not impossible."
