DSC's Power832 boasts Video Verification capability

June 2000 Surveillance

The PC5015 control unit from Digital Security Controls (DSC), represented in South Africa by Elvey International, has Downlook video verification capability on its award winning POWER832 Security System. This innovative feature makes the POWER832 the only system currently offering integrated, conventional alarm and video monitoring options, using standard CCTV cameras.

The PC5015, when coupled with the PC5108L video matrix module and the DLM-4L video transmitter module, allows B&W still frame video pictures, captured by the system, to be transmitted to a monitoring station. Further enhancing Downlook’s value is its pre-trigger feature, which can provide pictures of the scene before the alarm event occurred (e.g. the opening of a perimeter door). A picture buffer captures four images at four individually programmable time intervals.

The PC5108L provides eight general-purpose burglary or fire alarm zone inputs as well as eight inputs from video cameras, VCRs or video switchers and matches these inputs to any alarm zones in any configuration. The PC5108L will also act as a sophisticated local CCTV switcher providing full control of connected video sources directly from the POWER832’s LCD keypad. This allows the user to add ‘onsite’ video capability directly to the control panel.

The DLM-4L video transmitter module performs the functions of capturing, compressing and transmitting, via the PC5108L and PC5015 in a DSC proprietary format. DLM-4L will support either PAL or NTSC monitors or cameras. Both the alarm and video signals are transmitted over a standard telephone line, in one transmission. Any alarm zone (up to 32 zones) or group of zones can be programmed to initiate and transmit up to four still images from up to four video sources in any programmed sequence.
