Identification technology group achieves ISO certification

October 2002 News

ASSA ABLOY's Identification Technology Group (ITG) recently announced that three of its business units, HID Corporation, Card Technologies and Services (CTS), and the Research and Development Center, have attained ISO 9001 2000 certification.

The ISO 9000 certification family was created for organisations that strive to enhance their performance through the implementation of a quality management system. This single certifiable standard now applies to all organisations regardless of size, industry, product or service. The emphasis of ISO 9001 2000 is on continual improvement, efficiency, and customer satisfaction: understanding customers' current and future needs, meeting their requirements, and trying to exceed customer expectations.

The company has also promoted Jim Johnson to director of business systems. In this position he will manage ITG's business systems and procedures. This includes implementation of uniform quality, ISO 9001 2000, and process improvement programs across all ITG facilities. "ITG's ISO committee began updating all of our documentation to the new standard beginning January, 2002," said Johnson. "The committee's efforts, combined with that of the internal audit team at all three business units, were instrumental in achieving this challenging objective."
