Abloy provides absolute access control

September 2002 Access Control & Identity Management

It has been said before, and it has been proven time and time again. No matter how good your access control technology is, your system is only going to be as strong as the lock that secures the access door. This is according to Lockwise, sole importer and representative of Abloy in South Africa.

"We are witnessing a growing dissent amongst companies who have spent fortunes on an access control system only to see their security breached due to an inferior locking product being used on the door, such as a magnetic lock or an electric strike," says Dr Michael Gordon of Lockwise. "In the end this often reflects on the installer or system integrator and this is not really fair. This situation can be averted with absolute certainty if an Abloy access control lock is used."

One of the world's largest manufacturers of electronic locks, the Abloy range includes both motor and solenoid locks providing security, flexible functionality and aesthetically appealing design. "When using an access control system, be it digital pad, card swipe, proximity tag or any other, Abloy access control locks will ensure that the security of each door is not compromised whilst allowing the freedom of access required," adds Dr Gordon.

With over 40 different lock-case functions, the range of motor locks feature bolts withdrawn by motor to provide hands-free unlocking of the door, whilst Abloy solenoid locks use solenoids to engage handles or free mechanisms to allow entry. Further, mechanical override is provided by an Abloy cylinder mechanism, which may be master keyed. "If you are using or specifying or integrating an access control system, be sure to consider an Abloy access control lock - it will provide all the security and looks of a mortice lock whilst ensuring convenient and reliable entry and exit," says Dr Gordon.

In addition, Abloy have a dedicated technical support team available to assist with product selection. The company also offers free interactive workshops on its product range so that users and specifiers can become familiar with the different product advantages and functions. "At the same time one can learn all the necessary technical guidance, installations hints and tips, and see all the standard built in extras that make Abloy access control locks so popular world-wide," concludes Dr Gordon.
