Softcon release new software and hardware

September 2002 Access Control & Identity Management

The new Softcon software and hardware system provides building management functions with new features as listed below:

* Access control.

* Vehicle control.

* Visitor control with pre-registration via e-mail.

* Vending control, including point of sale.

* ID card generation.

* Alarm monitoring and intrusion detection.

* Control of doors, gates, sirens, lighting, etc.

* Mimic panel control.

* Time accumulation.

* Link to time attendance systems.

The Softwin3 Software is modular in design (add-on components) and allows for expansion when required. The application resides on a common IT infrastructure with an open database strategy, operating on a Windows platform, ie, Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT & XP. A secure login and password control further enhances the flexible, yet secure features of the Softcon system.

Fully customisable windows eliminates the need for realtime monitoring and information overload, allowing the administrator to filter the access control activities as seen on screen per preference (eg various colours for various functions, ie, incoming alarms), application or login level. Site-wide data synchronisation is made possible via networking and modem dial-up options. Online help files are readily available for perusal and assistance.

The dedicated hardware units provide a local connection for access control and alarm monitoring, allowing the administrator to build custom scripts to automate any type of alarm handling, eg, using logic commands to power alarm activity. Hardware integration allows for linking to systems such as CCTV, fire alarms, intruder detection and building management. In addition, the new Softcon controller's data is date and time stamped and capable of storing 1000 transactions in the controller buffer with 96 000 card users in sequential format.
