Recognition Systems recently released a hand geometry reader that integrates facial recognition technology directly into the unit, thereby creating a dual biometric product. Furthermore, when combined with an ID card or badge, the unit provides a three-factor authentication of face, card and hand.
The dual face/hand recognition biometric verification system is minimally intrusive and is able to verify a person's identification in less than five seconds. The system operates by first reading an ID card, next scanning a person's face and then examining more than 90 measurements of the size and shape of a person's hand. Data from these two integrated biometric devices are checked against a central database. The data can also be stored on the ID card itself.
