Facial recognition made affordable

In a new licence agreement between Cognitec Systems and Modular Communications, the FaceVACS facial recognition software is now available for integration into access control and time and attendance systems at an affordable price.

This offer includes the complete suit of administration (enrolment), verification and alarm notification packages for up to 500 people. The Biometric software suit licence is renewable annually at a price subject to CPI index, interest rates and forex changes. Four licence prices are available for up to 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 people. Licences for higher quantities are also available.

In a further development with Nortech readers it is possible to integrate facial recognition systems where existing access control systems are installed. The Nortech readers connected to a reader controller can access clocking information from systems employing Controlsoft, Softcon, GSC and HID cards so there is no need to change card systems to accommodate facial recognition applications.

Cliff Rose of Modular Communications says this technology development will open the way for two main applications:

* Biometric verification for high security areas where existing access control systems are employed.

* Biometric verification for time and attendance applications where existing time and attendance systems are employed which will reduce clocking fraud.
