A Ziton fire detection system is being installed at the new R500-million Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). Located on the foreshore, the CTICC is scheduled to open on 1 August 2003.
The fire detection system comprises a network of ZP3 analog addressable control panels linked to Z700 series detectors and callpoints. The system also incorporates several Ziton/Stratos high sensitivity smoke detectors (HSSD).
The CTICC will generate 29 000 new direct and indirect jobs, with an economic impact estimated at R705 m in its first year of operation alone. An economic impact study has also shown that the centre will make a cumulative contribution of R18,4 bn to gross domestic product by 2012.
