CCTV video webserver

July 2002 Surveillance

Convision Technology's range of video webservers, available from Modular Communications, is in effect a digital video recorder, which is accessible via the Internet browser on a PC.

The V600 Series machine is ISDN and LAN ready with hard drive up to 30 GB. Features include the ability to connect up to six cameras to the digital recorder with alarm inputs for each camera, Comm port 1 for the control of dome cameras and Comm port 2 for an analog modem telephone line connection The V700 Series is available with hard drive capacities up to 320 G.

The digital recorder is suitable for small applications, and because the unit is small and compact, it can be used for mobile video recording applications. It can be installed into trucks or cars with covert cameras to record driver activities and truck consignments.

In LAN applications, the recorder can be installed in remote areas where a LAN point exists on a factory's network. Access to the video footage is gained through a standard Internet browser from a PC workstation on the LAN or WAN. With the ISDN facility the recorder can be accessed remotely to view factories, shops and petrol stations after hours.

In the event of an alarm condition, alarm pictures can be e-mailed in jpeg format to up to eight pre-assigned e-mail addresses. An optional SMS facility can be programmed to send alarm messages to various cellphones or control rooms. A built-in audio function makes it possible to have voice communications with a remote site eg an entry intercom unit.

The new technology is compatible with existing CCTV systems using multiplexers and 24 hour time lapse recorders.
