ST's TouchChip technology is a turnkey biometric security subsystem that is ready to embed in products for the public and private sectors. TouchChip, PerfectPrint and PerfectMatch provide the full range of typical biometric system functions: fingerprint sensing, image optimisation and matching.

The TouchChip silicon fingerprint sensor captures fingerprint images. It is based on patented TouchChip technology - an active capacitive pixel-sensing device delivering a high signal-to-noise ratio. PerfectPrint controls the TouchChip sensor to obtain the best possible fingerprint image, whatever the environmental conditions or type of skin. PerfectMatch is a set of software algorithms that perform the two essential biometric functions of extracting fingerprint templates, and matching live fingerprints with previously stored fingerprint templates.

PerfectMatch is delivered with an application programming interface (API) to easily integrate the TouchChip biometric subsystems in a customer's application without the need for in-depth knowledge of all components. This open architecture is aimed at simplifying the integration of biometrics into existing applications and reducing development time.
