Network video station

March/April 2002 Surveillance

The new SNT-V304 Video Network Station from Sony allows one to manage and view pictures from one or more CCTV cameras that may be scattered over a wide area.

"Thanks to the increasing speed and security of today's networks, sending video pictures from the remotest locations is now a reliable and cost-effective choice for anyone who needs to view images from one or more CCTV cameras," says Sony Broadcast & Professional SA product manager Dave Schultz.

"The Network Video Station is equipped with a video memory for picture archiving that stores alarm events. Pre-alarm and post-alarm images are recorded, helping ensure that no critical moments are missed. Still images can also be captured and recorded as they are being monitored for detailed inspection and storage as required," explains Schultz.

"In the event of an alarm detection, the system can automatically send an e-mail message across the network, together with an attached picture file showing the alarm event. A manager receiving the message can then rapidly decide on any required course of action."

Target applications for the SNT-V304 'Netstation' include remote monitoring, building management, remote video storage, banks, airports, railway station, gas station, shops, market research, parking, remote video storage, money counting, process monitoring, traffic monitoring and town centre surveillance.
