Introducing Gulf Security Technology

August 2019 Fire & Safety

Gulf Security Technology (GST) manufactures more than 16 million detectors and modules and more than 120 thousand control panels per year, making it one of the largest fire detection manufacturers in the world. GST is part of Carrier, a global provider of innovative heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies.

The GST factory applies robotically controlled pick-and-place machines and surface-mount technology in strict conformity with ISO 9001 and ISO 10012.1. Its production process is reviewed by Dutch certification authority LPCB annually. Due to the high quality standards in the factory, the GST facility boasts ACE Gold status, the highest rating from United Technologies, the parent company of Carrier.

ACE is the internal quality operating system developed by UTC and includes a combination of lean manufacturing and quality improvement practices. Complying with these stringent quality norms, it is no surprise that GST products carry approvals and certifications from various international testing bodies, including but not limited to AS (Australia), CCC (China), CE (EU), HKFSD (Hong Kong), LPCB (Int), SAI (Int), PSB (Singapore) and UL (Int).

GST’s reputation depends not only on product excellence but also on the quality of after-sales service. Wherever GST products are installed, their safe operation is assured.

GST’s range of conventional panels, detectors, signalling devices and accessories offers a complete solution for small to mid-size fire detection applications. With their comprehensive range of features, our panels address a wide range of fire solutions, from standard fire detection to evacuation and extinguishing, as well as protecting people and properties in hazardous situations or environments (e.g. in the petroleum and chemical industries).

With all the standard features that one expects to find in a conventional fire panel today, the GST100A fire panel series provides 2, 4, 8 and 16 fire detection zones, offering an easy solution for basic fire alarm applications. In addition to support for standard zone end-of-line cable monitoring, active end-of-line supervision is also supported, offering an added benefit for maintaining cable continuity even with a detector removed. The aesthetic panel design and colour scheme mean that this is a panel that you can be proud to display.

The GST100A series fire panels support simplified and basic user operation with key-lock security. When the installation requires it, advanced features like day/night mode, output programing with delayed outputs, additional output boards, repeater links and other features are also supported.

Complementing the conventional fire panel range, the new DC-91xxE series conventional detectors are packed with decision-making algorithms offering stable and reliable performance. Drift compensation, dust resistance and even selectable operating modes are included. All DC-91xxE series detectors use a common detector base, enabling easy installation. All detectors and bases support the connection of a remote indicator by default.

Other products in the conventional range include peripheral products and flameproof devices like manual call points, beam detectors, and UV and IR flame detectors. Most of the devices can be used in addressable mode (when connected to a GST addressable fire alarm loop) or conventional mode. In case of conventional use, which is automatically detected, dry contact outputs are available for fire and fault conditions.

Also included in its new conventional product offering for the South African region are a compact repeater panel for the GST100A range, additional relay output boards, a conventional base-mount UV flame detector, a small standalone gas extinguishing control panel, as well as a few conventional gas detectors offering detection of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas (NG).

The conventional GST100A series and accessories are fully CPR-certified under EN54-2 and EN54-4, while the DC-91xxE series detectors carry all necessary certification under EN54-5 and EN54-7 in selectable operating modes.

With its broad and innovative product range, GST aspires to make true on Carrier’s fire and security products’ mission: to make the world a safer place to live by protecting people, properties and assets.
