iLegal 2019: Enhancing and empowering your control rooms

2 August 2019 News & Events, Conferences & Events

iLegal is the surveillance industry’s premier one-day conference hosted jointly by Hi-Tech Security Solutions and Dr Craig Donald. iLegal 2019 will be held on 12 September 2019 at The Rosebank Crowne Plaza in Johannesburg.

This year’s conference will look at what is becoming known as Augmented Surveillance: using technologies and people interactively to maximise results from operators and control rooms in order to make intelligent security and business decisions.

The conference will focus on the ways and means companies and individuals can realise the full potential of their CCTV installations through the use of new technologies as well as well-trained people.

Augmented surveillance in control rooms

The morning session at iLegal 2019 will include presentations on augmented surveillance in the control room. Dr Craig Donald will further expand on what augmented surveillance is and why it is going to be so critical in the control room of the future.

Craig will examine some of the key assumptions behind the use of technology, and what is required to get the best out of both people and technology. He will also touch on the considerations that will drive your choice of augmentation technologies, what implications this has for the type of staff you need, design considerations, and the processes and management approaches best suited for this kind of environment.

Control rooms that add value

Adriaan Bosch, group security manager at Shoprite Checkers, will then take delegates through a deep dive into the art of control room design and operational efficiency. A successful control room will require trained staff, properly configured technology that has been acquired for the specific environment, and the right processes to integrate and extract optimal performance from both – as well as the rest of your security operation.

Having built a number of large control room operations in South Africa, Adriaan’s experience allows him to take a critical look at the theory behind the use of central control rooms and what to prioritise in terms of expenditure at the outset of the development of a new control room.
