Facial recognition for hotel efficiency

1 April 2019 Entertainment and Hospitality (Industry), Access Control & Identity Management, Products & Solutions

In today’s fast-paced world with various technology innovations happening daily, one can only look forward to the best in the market. But is this technology able to give you quick access to various places? This is very questionable.

A fingerprint recognition system can quickly authenticate individuals for access control purposes. While it serves an obvious security component, does it speed up entry, especially in crowd-heavy situations like those found at major sports stadiums and, of course, airports?

Facial recognition technology has taken a huge hike in the market and with more devices being launched, it is inevitable that it will be the technology of the future. Various companies today strive to ensure that this technology only gets bigger and better.

A recent introduction from ZKTeco in this area is visible light facial recognition technology, which not only works better than most facial recognition devices, but has been specifically developed for purposes where high-speed facial recognition at an extremely high level of accuracy is vital. The range of visible light facial recognition products combined with a flexible android platform provide customers with lots of potential to create anything they can imagine.

The range of products is based on the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and neural network technologies. This technology can be used for any sector, whether you are looking for access control or time attendance one can easily create such through the visible light facial recognition technology products.

One of the products to hit the market in 2019 from ZK is a visual facial recognition kiosk. Customers can convert this specific device into various concepts based on what their needs are. The device can be used in any sector, for example, when placed within a hotel it can take the burden away from the reception staff and make pre check ins a reality at the hotels.

The platform enables the hotel to create a system whereby the guest can pay from his phone and then do an automatic check in by taking a selfie. When he gets to the hotel, he can go directly to the facial recognition kiosk and request his room card bypassing all interaction with the reception staff. The hotels can also benefit from these kiosks whereby they can upsell certain services of the hotel depending on the demographics of the guest.

This includes doing certain targeted promotions when a guest is in a certain age group and gender. The security aspect can also be extended where the blacklist features of the platform can deny a previous malicious guest from getting a room card even if the guest is using a false identity document, but his face is recognised by the system and the reception staff is alerted and can then decide with management on the next course of action.

By also installing the visual light facial recognition cameras which work on the same platform, the hotel can not only see that there are guests in a certain area, but they can see who the guests are. This data gain can be analysed by the hotels to add services and amenities depending on the type of guest frequenting those areas. Such technology is definitely one to look out for.
