Uniview protects mosque

February 2019 Surveillance, Products & Solutions

The Hassan II Mosque, located in Casablanca (Morocco) and built in 1993, is the largest Mosque in Africa. It is a religious and cultural complex, built partly on the sea.

The mosque cost nearly $600 million and covers an area of 9 hectares. The main mosque hall and outside ground can accommodate between 25 000 and 80 000 worshippers at the same time.

The Moroccans used modern technology to create this masterpiece on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, which was called ‘the eighth wonder of the world’.

Uniview provided a complete video surveillance solution to protect this sacred building.

Project highlights

• StarView: Uniview provided super starlight bullet cameras which can present clear images under very low illumination. The minimum illumination of the UNV super starlight bullet camera can reach up to 0.0005 lux.

• Ultra265: As a patented compression technology, Ultra265 can reduce bandwidth by up to 95% compared with H.264. It can greatly save the hard disk costs.

• Smart functions: UNV network cameras cover the public areas of the whole building. With multiple smart functions such as face detection, intrusion detection and people counting etc., it helps users to better manage the environment. In addition, when doing playback, the event record and smart search functions improve efficiency.

• Long-range PoE: Considering the difficulty of wiring in high-rise buildings, Uniview provides long-range PoE that can extend to 250 metres.

• IP67 waterproofing: There was also a requirement for waterproof network cameras because Hassan II Mosque is next to the Atlantic Ocean. UNV cameras support IP67 and anti-salt corrosion to guarantee the normal operation.
