Win $65 000 from Milestone

1 November 2018 Editor's Choice, News & Events

Milestone Systems invites coders, developers, individuals and organisations to test their development skills in the video management technology field. The Milestone Community Kickstarter Contest is a unique opportunity to discover new applications and capabilities within video management, security surveillance and even beyond security; applications that can ‘plug in’ to the XProtect VMS product family.

“We want to invite the community of developers to help make the world see how Milestone Systems’ open platform technology can ensure safety, protect assets and increase business above and beyond the world of traditional security. We believe that there are amazing ideas out there, and the Community Kickstarter Contest has proven to be a great opportunity for developers to get their ideas turned into actual products and business,” says Bjørn Skou Eilertsen, chief technology officer, Milestone Systems.

The winning concept can be an integration, added functionality, widget or code that extends the use of video in physical security or improves everyday life. Participating developers can use Milestone VMS as a visual tool, a device trigger, a base for analysing data or to measure information that can be applied in totally new ways. The only requirement is that the solution is created using the free Milestone Integration Platform Software Development Kit (MIP SDK) and that the idea must be the contestant’s own intellectual property.

Three finalists will be given free entry and an exhibitor booth at the annual Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS) in Nashville, US, on January 15, 2019. This is where the winner will be announced. The winner will also receive a prize valued at USD 65 000:

• A cash prize of $10 000.

• $20 000 in development resources, including review, feedback and Milestone Solution Certification.

• $35 000 in global marketing activities with Milestone Systems.

Last year’s winner was Soko Aoki from Tokyo, Japan. Soko Aoki’s winning project was integrating Milestone Systems’ XProtect VMS with 360-enabled cameras and a head-mounted display (HMD) to see omni-directions by just moving your head using RTSP and MIP drivers.
