Priority Response to improve armed reaction

Videofied has introduced Priority Response, a way to change the way professional armed reaction calls are being handled in the industry by making use of video verification products and service. Videofied SA’s Rory Webber explains that video verification is now available as an upgrade to your current alarm system and is being driven by professional armed response companies like EPR Security.

Johan Booysen, MD of EPR says, “All commercial, industrial and high-risk residential sites should have video verification linked to their existing alarm systems. In an emergency, response time matters. When customers need an armed reaction service, getting the right teams to their location with the right information can make all the difference. This is where video verification makes all the difference.”

What is Priority Response?

South African residential and commercial customers are constantly under pressure to remain ahead of the crime surge in the country. At the same time, security companies that offer an armed reaction service are constantly looking for ways to increase and improve their reaction times to genuine crimes in progress.

With over 90% of all activations currently being false alarms, it makes good business sense to verify why the alarm was triggered before mobilising a reaction team. Videofied Priority Response now gives 24-hour control rooms the ability to verify the alarm and therefore prioritise the reaction teams.

Traditional burglar alarms

• Typically, over 90% of alarm calls are false alarms, because they are ‘blind’.

• Apprehension rates on traditional alarm responses are very low.

Videofied’s solution

• Alarm system with video verification and excellent battery life.

• Indoor and outdoor motion viewers, detect break-ins with an infrared motion sensor.

• The camera sends a 10-second video clip of intruder to an alarm monitoring station for immediate action – ‘Priority Response’.

• Video intrusion means the control room can verify and dispatch as a higher priority than traditional blind detectors.

• Dispatch process can be initiated while video is being received.

Webber stresses that Videofied intrusion alarms are not used to identify intruders as they are not used for 24/7 video surveillance. It is used to provide a video clip to verify whether an alarm is real or not, assisting security companies in ensuring the appropriate response.
