Arecont releases Contera range

June 2018 Surveillance, Products & Solutions

The Contera range of cameras by Arecont Vision has hit the market, offering new high-end megapixel (MP) IP cameras at affordable price points. The new range offers H.265 compression with the company’s SNAPstream+ bandwidth reduction technology, Smart IR LEDs with variable illumination, Enhanced WDR (wide dynamic range) up to 120 dB, and on-board storage up to 256 GB.

There are five new devices on offer in the new range.

Contera Outdoor Dome

The Contera Outdoor Dome megapixel camera features 1080p and 5 MP resolution. The dome combines a day/night mechanical IR cut filter with an integrated motorised remote focus and zoom precision iris (P-iris) lens for optimal image quality.

For applications with poor lighting conditions, Enhanced WDR at 120 dB provides the best visual balance to shaded and bright light conditions, while NightView offers strong low-light sensitivity for capturing colour details in extremely poor-lit scenes. Built-in Smart IR LED illumination automatically adjusts output in response to the distance of an object in view to prevent over-exposure when the object is very close to the camera.

Arecont Vision recently developed SNAPstream (Smart Noise Adaptation and Processing) technology for reducing bandwidth without impacting image quality. The new range includes Arecont’s next-generation H.265 with SNAPstream+ smart codec capable of delivering high quality video while saving over 50% of the data rate to reduce or prevent strain on the network.

The SD card slot supports up to 256 GB of storage capacity and the camera’s power can be supplied via a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE - IEEE 802.3af). The outdoor dome is IP66 rated for both indoor and outdoor applications. All models feature an impact-resistant cast-aluminium housing capable of withstanding the equivalent of 55 kg (120 lbs) of force. The outdoor dome is ONVIF Profile S, G, and Q conformant, providing interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer.

The new Contera Indoor Dome camera features similar specifications.

Contera 180-degree Panoramic

The Contera Panoramic megapixel IP cameras provide an all-in-one solution for wide-area video surveillance. Four sensors and lenses are housed in an outdoor-rated IP66 and IK-10 impact-resistant dome enclosure. The cameras are available in a 180° configuration and resolutions of 8 and 20 MP. A single Contera Panoramic camera can replace multiple conventional cameras with the ability to zoom into multiple regions of interest.

The panoramic is also equipped with Enhanced WDR at 120 dB, NightView and has LED illumination built into each sensor gimbal. H.265 with SNAPstream+ is also included, as is power via PoE.

Contera Outdoor Bullet

The Contera Bullet outdoor-ready megapixel camera features 1080p and 5 megapixel (MP) resolution, combines a day/night mechanical IR cut filter with an integrated motorised 2.7–12 mm varifocal remote focus and zoom precision iris (P-iris) lens. Once again Enhanced WDR at 120 dB as well as NightView is included, supported by built-in Smart IR LED illumination. It also includes H.265 with SNAPstream+, an SD card slot supporting up to 256 GB and Power-over-Ethernet. The bullet is IP66 rated for both indoor and outdoor applications. All models feature an impact-resistant cast aluminium housing capable of withstanding the equivalent of 55 kg of force. It is also ONVIF Profile S, G, and Q conformant.

Contera Outdoor Micro Bullet

The Contera Micro Bullet combines a day/night mechanical IR cut filter with an integrated 3.6 mm lens as well as Enhanced WDR, NightView and built-in Smart IR LED illumination. It is IP66 rated for both indoor and outdoor applications, ONVIF conformant to Profile S, G, and Q and all models feature an impact-resistant cast-aluminium housing capable of withstanding the equivalent of 55 kg of force.
