Milestone successfully expanding in Africa

June 2018 Editor's Choice, News & Events

Milestone Systems is seeing a strong interest from customer and partners in the African region, and recently hosted a very successful Introduction Day Seminar in Kenya. More than 70 attendees joined the seminar, which was supported by event alliance partners Axis and Gallagher.

In order to support the strong growth potential in the region, Milestone Systems Africa kicked off the new year with a reorganisation and announced a number of additions to the team. Armand Steffens, country manager, Africa, says: “With a strong team we are now even more focused than before on the African region. We have worked hard in establishing the right foundation and enhanced our support structures in sales, administrative and technical areas. From here we offer the optimal solutions covering the vast requirements in the African markets.“

New appointments

Arlette Yomi joined Milestone as a channel business manager for West, East and Central Africa. Yomi is well known in the industry and familiar with the market having worked for previous employers Axis and F5 Networks. Yomi focuses on developing the channel in the region and providing the support needed for both brand and business growth.

As inside channel manager for Africa, Sunette du Plessis acts as a support structure for the channel. By helping to support and develop accounts, she is giving the channel business managers more time to develop business with and for the Milestone partners.

Solutions engineer Llewellyn Davies is a strong asset to the team, providing partners with the necessary certifications and confidence in deploying solutions. He has made a name for himself in the industry by delivering exceptional service. Davies is predominantly responsible for sub-Saharan and South Africa as well as countries in WECA.

Chris Havinga was promoted from his role as distribution channel manager with Milestone for the last two years, to channel business manager from January 1st. This change provides focus in sub-Saharan Africa, and the dedication of resources to the area will benefit both partners and end users in the region.

Mario Dargham, a solutions engineer with Milestone for the last two years, moved into the African team earlier this year, and is predominantly responsible for Egypt and Levant, but also support countries in WECA.

Odette Malkoun continues in her role as channel business manager for Levant and Egypt.

Armand concludes: “Milestone works in a 2-tier channel which we actively support, while making sure that the distribution channel helps us in knowledge transfer to partners we have not yet reached. The channel business managers work closely with the integrators in meeting their customers’ needs and requirements, guaranteeing that they deliver our software in line with our expectations. Service is everything and we will not compromise on this. Africa has a lot on offer and I expect big things in this market, we are committed to this region, something which can be seen through our investment and actions.”
