Single door access control system

February 2002 Access Control & Identity Management

Sensormatic has introduced the InfoProx Entry - a small footprint standalone 'at-the-door' controller that provides a cost-effective solution to single door access control.

Designed for simple installation and ease of use, InfoProx Entry is able to feed information about the transactions directly back to the cardholder. The InfoProx Entry contains its own database and controls for a local door, through a volt-free relay output.

A PIN number can be allocated to some, or all of the cards, for additional security. A polycarbonate enclosure with an LCD screen and LED indicators, houses the standalone door control unit. In addition, InfoProx Entry can display messages of up to 32 characters.

A primary controller configuration is also supported for use with an exit reader configured for back-to-back installation. For example, you can control access using a master installed on the entry side and allow only authorised return through a second unit communicating directly with the master's database. The keypad is used to open a password-protected administration menu, allowing the device to be configured locally, and also when PIN validation is required, offering additional security. The integral LCD on the InfoProx Entry informs the administrator or user immediately of the card swipe outcome, thus saving time and resource on diagnosing the problem. An optional software application is available with the InfoProx Entry, designed to maintain the database, safeguard data and produce reports. This software includes a Microsoft Windows GUI and can be installed on any IBM compatible PC.

Key features include:

* Storage of up to 50 000 'Prox by HID' card IDs, 50 000 optional PIN numbers and 4000 alarms/transactions.

* 2-line by 16-character backlit LCD display.

* Optional PC backup facility to build or rebuild database and for generation of card detail, transaction and alarm reports.
