CCTV installations assist companies' productivity

December 2001 Surveillance

Digital Surveillance Management Systems has enjoyed much success through its CCTV installations at high profile sites.

These sites include:

* Sasol Polymers: As a result of the camera system in place, Sasol's management was able to catch and positively identify and convict the security guard who had been stealing computers from their company at night.

* Pro Shop: Prior to its annual sale, the management of The Pro Shop wisely decided to install and commission a CCTV system in its golf shop. Exactly seven hours after commissioning the system, a customer was arrested for stealing.

* 600 SA: 600 SA saw a massive increase in its productivity levels. Staff were no longer able to steal time as the system was monitoring their activities. The scenario was this, staff members were coming in on a Saturday, having a braai between 12h00 and 03h00 and then booking the time as overtime when, in fact, no work was done at all. This no longer is the case.

According to DSMS' Alan Walker, "All of the abovementioned incidences prove that CCTV has resulted in loopholes being closed and aiding management to put new procedures in place. In general, all clients - not to list them all, have found amazing results with regard to productivity levels of their staff.

"Management is now able to monitor all types of productivity levels of their business. Management is now able to follow an individual's progress and work methods," he concludes.
