The Panasonic Security Data ('PS-Data') concept has reached South Africa, following the introduction of diverse closed circuit video equipment with PS-Data protocols.
"This means that security system design and installation can be streamlined," says Mags Anthony, Director Panasonic CCVE Systems Department. "By selecting components with in-built PS-Data protocol, there is no longer a need to install other devices to translate protocols between them, thereby reducing the time taken to install as well as simplifying the fault-finding aspect of maintenance.
"By introducing one language across all products, PS-Data is effectively changing the rules in the security industry. With PS-Data, for example, one can switch cameras, control pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) units and dome cameras, call up set-up menus, change settings on any device in the system, as well as adjust the image quality on the monitor from a single controller."
According to Anthony, PS-Data protocol is at present a standard feature in the following products:
* WJ-MP204 data multiplex unit.
* WV-CU360 system controller.
* WJ-FS416 digital video duplex colour multiplexer.
* WJ-FS409 digital video duplex colour multiplexer.
* WJ-HD500 digital disk recorder with 16-channel multiplexer.
* WJ-HD100 digital disk recorder.
* WV-CM2080 CRT colour AV monitor.
* WV-CM1780 CRT colour AV monitor.
* WV-CM1480 CRT colour AV monitor.
PS-Data technology will hopefully be incorporated in all new CCVE products as well as future upgrades of existing equipment in the CCVE range.
