Thales Advanced Engineering has launched a security system for parking areas aimed at combating theft.
Designed to be installed in office car parks, townhouse complexes and similar facilities, the system enables the gate guard to control the entry and exit of vehicles while gathering enough information to limit the risk of motor vehicle theft. In the event of a car being stolen, the system also supplies enough visual evidence to assist the police in tracking the vehicle.
Based on Thales' Kronos system, an advanced digital CCTV control and storage system, the new surveillance product photographs a car as it enters the car park and stores this visual information together with the details of the access card issued to the driver. When the vehicle leaves, the card is presented to the proximity reader at the gate exit and the guard can then check whether the driver, card and vehicle leaving the premises are the same as those who entered.
"The system is a cost-efficient and effective answer to any security manager's parking facility problems," says Ivor Fairney, Thales' Sales Manager.
