Kalatel 's DSR-2000e single-channel digital video recorder now operates with Pelco, Genex, Sanyo and several other brand-name multiplexers.
"Regardless of what brand multiplexer an end-user has or what a dealer has been selling, organisations want to record digitally," explains Darren Nicholson, Kalatel National Marketing Manager. "The DSR-2000e digital video recorder is as easy to use as a VCR and priced to replace a quality security VCR. To make it easy for both users and dealers to incorporate it into present systems, we have created interfaces from the DSR-2000e to all major multiplexers.
"The DSR-2000e looks, feels and operates just like a VCR," adds Nicholson. "Record speeds of the DSR-2000e are comparable to time-lapse VCRs. Its control panel features the same simple functions of a VCR, including a jog shuttle dial that makes it easy to scan through recordings rapidly or frame-by-frame without image distortion. Anyone who can use a VCR will be able to use the DSR-2000e effectively with no special training. Control panel buttons and simple on-screen menus search for images by date and time. No PC, special software or mouse is needed."
With the 30 GB hard drive standard or optional 80 or 160 GB drives, users can record for months without overwriting. Ethernet ready, the DSR-2000e can also be assigned an IP address so that users within a LAN or WAN can review and download selected live or recorded images on remote PCs, using software provided with the DSR-2000e. A SCSI-II port allows them to save recorded images on portable media such as CDs or DAT and AIT tapes. The DSR-2000e can also be connected to a multiplexer, quad, sequential switcher or matrix switcher to record an alarmed camera automatically. The DSR-2000e records live images up to 60 pictures per second and provides superb resolution, 720 x 576 in PAL format and 720 x 484 in NTSC.
