A range of high-security disposable cable seals, suitable for a variety of applications within the electricity industry, is available from Aluvin Securiseal.
One in the range is the Multi-Lok Cable Seal, manufactured by US security seal manufacturer, EJ Brooks Company, which provides an effective way to secure transformers, utility meters, perimeter gates and other awkward sealing points. The Multi-Lok is a high-security disposable cable seal available with a 3 mm braided steel cable in a standard 30 cm length.
According to Kevin Norwitz, Managing Director of Aluvin, one of the main advantages of this seal is that it has a pull-apart strength of 500 kgs and, like all the seals in this range, it can be stamped with an individual company name and produced with consecutive numbers for control purposes. "The name and number sequence is critically important in the immediate identification of tampering," said Norwitz. "Furthermore, these seals are designed in such a way that removal requires cable cutters."
Another in this range is the narrower Nifty-Lok which is a flexible, narrow-gauge cable designed especially for awkward sealing points. It has a metal seal body with a 1,6 mm diameter cable, and like the Multi-Lok Seal, it has a treated tip to facilitate easy entry. "This seal has a pull-apart strength of 315 kgs and, like the Multi-Lok, if cut, its nonpreformed cable unravels. This feature is important to prevent reinsertion," explains Norwitz.
The Multi-Lok and Nifty-Lok are available from Aluvin in a standard matt silver finish. Colour bodies, bar coding and extra length cable are also available on request.
