New products from Technoswitch

September 2016 Fire & Safety, Products & Solutions

Technoswitch recently completed a national product launch, starting with an event in Cape Town, followed by Johannesburg and finally Durban. The turn-outs at all three venues were the best Technoswitch has seen for a number of years as it launched its new products.

The Oryx conventional fire control panel range consists of a 2, 4 and 8 zone panel. The panels are 100% locally developed and manufactured in Technoswitch’s ISO 9001 certified facility in Johannesburg. Key features of the new panel include:

• Fully EN54 compliant.

• USB port for firmware upgrade.

• USB port for event log download (900 events).

• Aesthetic, modern design.

• 3-year warranty.

Everyone liked the aesthetics of the panel and were impressed with the level of functionality being offered in a conventional panel range. To complement the new panel Technoswitch also introducing a new cost-effective conventional detector range called SensoMAG. The range consists of:

• Optical smoke detector.

• Fixed and rate-of-rise heat detectors.

• Optical/heat detector.

• Manual call point with built-in alarm LED.

• Remote indicator.

• Standard and 12 V relay mounting base.

The detectors are fully compatible with the new Oryx panel range as well as Technoswitch’s existing TC800 panel range.

A further focus of the launch events was the BlazeCut automatic fire suppression product line, a simple solution for the protection of motor vehicles, marine craft and equipment cabinets/consoles.

The system consists of a heat sensitive BlazeCut Tube made of special plastic that is closed by a stainless steel fitting on each end. The BlazeCut Tube has both storage and detection function, which means the extinguishing agent, is stored directly in the tube and no additional storage device such as cylinder is needed.

The BlazeCut system is designed for protection of small enclosures with greater risk of fire. BlazeCut operates automatically without any power supply by detecting higher temperatures. When the temperature in the protected enclosure rises to a critical threshold, the heat sensitive BlazeCut Tube melts down at the point where the affecting temperature is the highest.

Melting the BlazeCut Tube creates a hole releasing the entire extinguishing agent stored in the tube directly onto the source of the fire.

The BlazeCut T Series system uses HFC-227ea and HFC-236fa extinguishing agents. Both extinguishing agents are world-wide known and accepted clean agents used for volume fire suppression with very high effectivity, zero ozone depletion potential and safe to people. It is the agent of choice for protection of enclosures where any residue would cause harm to the protected sensitive devices.
