Powell Tronics at SECUREXPO East Africa

September 2016 News & Events

Following on the successful début of SECUREXPO East Africa last year, Powell Tronics will once again have a presence at this year’s exhibition. Held at the Visa Oshwal Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, the event will bring together leading security system manufacturers, suppliers and eager industry professionals between 8 and 10 November.

According to SECUREXPO East Africa organisers Montgomery ECO East Africa, Vision 2030 was created by the Kenyan government to help strategise its growth and development. This is already on its way and meeting its targets. In addition, the number of US$ millionaires in Kenya is growing at double the global rate. By 2024 the number will have increased by 74%. These factors are all very attractive elements in Powell Tronics’ decision to repeat its performance at last year’s event.

Mike Austen, national sales manager at Powell Tronics, says that the 2015 event allowed the company to interact with a number of key industry players. “Kenya is the largest economy in the region and a number of international companies such as Google, IBM, Toyota, Coca-Cola, Standard Chartered and Microsoft have offices in the country. This allows us to capitalise on a previously relatively untapped target market.”

“The Kenyan security market is relatively young, with access control being a generally unheard of concept. Interestingly, between 60% and 80% of all the leads derived from a well-known subscriber tendering service for access control and other physical security elements are from Kenya, so there is a definite need for the technology we provide. As a result of our interactions with visitors last year, we are currently compiling an access control training programme that will familiarise the market with the fundamentals of access control.”

Underlining its innovative technological philosophy and adherence to eco-friendly alternatives, Powell Tronics will again make use of its lightweight and easily transportable cardboard constructed exhibition stand. Working like a jigsaw puzzle, the stand is not only as attractive as a traditional stand, but is very durable and undistinguishable from conventional stand building materials.

Last year the company showcased Golmar intercom technology, Impro Portal, the IXP200, IXP400, Morpho’s Sigma range and 3D face technology as well as P-Tron’s PT-Rollcall, ATOM and ATOM Mobile software. “We will be taking the same blend of products to this year’s exhibition due to the great response we received from visitors. Among other opportunities, we are in the process of designing a pilot for the PT-Rollcall software in a number of school buses in the city where the abduction of children is an increasing problem. The beauty of PT-Rollcall is that each child needs to present a valid fingerprint before being permitted to board the bus, thereby eliminating non-registered people. In addition, the system has a geotracking element which allows the user to accurately determine and follow the position of the bus,” says Austen.

“Our goal is to increase our penetration into the sub-Saharan African region by creating improved awareness of the Impro, Morpho and Golmar products as well as our customised solutions for a number of sectors including business, industry, residential and education. In addition to having a stand at SECUREXPO East Africa, we will continue to develop relationships with the companies who expressed an interest in our offerings at last year’s event,” Austen concludes.
