MicroSwitcher Plus PC-based digital video control system from Aludi

November '99 Surveillance

MicroSwitcher Plus is a revolutionary CCTV security system development from ACI International, supported and distributed in South Africa by the Aludi Technologies Group. A CCTV video surveillance and security system that is installed inside of a PC and which runs under Microsoft Windows, MicroSwitcher Plus can accommodate up to 64 CCTV cameras and boasts an integrated matrix switcher, video transmission, digital video recording, PTZ control and network security capability.

Building a MicroSwitcher Plus-based system

p AC6408M master card - the base MicroSwitcher Plus system is designed around the AC6408M master card. The AC6408M is a 16 input by eight output video matrix switcher that is installed right inside of any Pentium 200 or better PC. The master card is a full length card and comes with easy to use MicroSwitcher Plus for Windows software. Installation into a PC is as simple as plugging in a modem card and can be done in minutes.

p Expansion beyond 16 cameras - additional CCTV camera inputs can easily be added to the system at any time by adding AC6408S slave cards. Each slave card adds 16 video camera inputs to the system. Each slave card occupies one expansion slot inside of the PC. Slave cards are available in ISA or PCI form and are all 1/2 card sized. Each fully loaded 64 camera MicroSwitcher Plus system therefore contains one AC6408 master card and three AC6408S slave cards.

p AC6408DIG/MPG card and video transmission software - installed into the MicroSwitcher Plus computer, the AC6408DIG/MPG option allows one to stream one of the monitor outputs from the AC6408M master card onto any Microsoft Windows TCP/IP network connection, using Ethernet, LAN, WAN, ISDN, and PSTN. Up to four AC6408DIG/MPG cards can be installed into a MicroSwitcher Plus PC, delivering four channels of live, high quality video over the network.

p AC6408client/player software - each remote computer (client) on the network can then run the AC6408client/player software which will allow one to select cameras for viewing, control PTZ functions and receive alarms from any MicroSwitcher Plus on the network. No hardware is required at the receive end.

Other options include the AC485C converter (which converts RS232 signal to RS485 signals, providing PTZ control, for up to 64 cameras), the AC1000PTZ receiver driver (needed at each location where a PTZ station is located) and the ACF1004 auxiliary card frame which allows users to add alarm inputs and relay outputs. The AC1000AL alarm inputs cards (16 inputs), AC1000RC relay output cards (8 C-form outputs), AC1000AV cards (16 audio follow video relays) round off MicroSwitcher Plus' hardware options

MicroSwitcher Plus for Windows software

MicroSwitcher Plus for Windows software (included with AC6408M above) allows the user to perform sophisticated security management functions at the click of a mouse including:

p Call cameras onto monitors (or the network) for viewing.

p Control PTZ lenses through the network connection.

p Home PTZ stations equipped with preset capability from any PC on the network.

p View video camera images on a VGA monitor.

p Run video tours of cameras in sequence on any monitor(s).

The MicroSwitcher Plus system also supports a large number of programmable features including:

p Define cameras to be displayed on monitors by time and day.

p Specify alarm actions by time and day.

p Title all cameras with on screen camera names.

p Run video tours by time and day automatically.

p Send PTZ equipped cameras to preset locations automatically by time and day.
