November '99 Surveillance

Can I use the MicroSwitcher PLUS with PAL or CCIR cameras?

Yes. MicroSwitcher Plus is specifically designed to be used worldwide without modification. The system will work with NTSC cameras, PAL cameras, SECAM and CCIR cameras.

Can I record video to the computer using MicroSwitcher Plus?

Yes. Just add a virtual video security recorder (VSR) to the MicroSwitcher Plus computer and record to almost any (IDE speed or faster) medium, including hard drive, tape drive, optical disk drive or any other storage medium accessible through Windows.

How do I view camera pictures at the MicroSwitcher Plus PC?

The MicroSwitcher Plus has eight monitor outputs to which video quad displays or monitors or even old fashioned VCRs can be connected.

Can I view more than one camera picture on the MicroSwitcher Plus PC display?

Yes. MicroSwitcher Plus has eight monitor outputs built in. Connect a video quad display to four of those outputs and view four cameras simultaneously on the MicroSwitcher Plus PC display using any Windows AVI compliant video capture card.

Can I view cameras and control the system from more than one computer on a network?

Yes. MicroSwitcher Plus is network capable when used with Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or Windows NT. Once MicroSwitcher Plus is installed into a PC on the network, any computer on the network can remotely control the MicroSwitcher Plus and view video images using MicroSwitcher Plus client software. MicroSwitcher Plus uses Multicast technology for bandwidth conservation.

How do I view the video pictures at the remote computers on the network?

Add an AC6408DIG/MPG card to the MicroSwitcher Plus computer and send the video to the remote (client) PC through the network using the MicroSwitcher Plus client/player software. No added cabling or hardware is required between the computers. Just use the existing network.

Can I view more than one video picture at the remote computers on the network?

Yes. Instal up to four AC6408DIG/MPG capture/transmission cards into a MicroSwitcher PLUS for networks PC, and view all four channels of video over your TCP/IP network, live and in colour!

How can I control the bandwidth utilised by the video transmission over my network?

The MicroSwitcher Plus for networks video transmitter software is adjustable at the video server PC (under supervisory password control) so that one can limit the bandwidth required for video to suit network usage.

Do the video pictures get 'jerky' or slow when there is a lot of movement in front of the camera?

No. MicroSwitcher Plus for networks video transmitter software does not use low quality teleconferencing (H.320) hardware and software. The system transmits live video, and the bandwidth and picture quality does not change based on the amount of changes in the video. This is not low end 'conditional refresh, bandwidth on demand' teleconferencing product, it is state of the art CCTV video surveillance technology, designed for the application.

Can I use MicroSwitcher Plus with a DHCP service or DNS service?

Yes. MicroSwitcher Plus for networks system works with all network address resolution techniques. One doesn't have to modify a TCP/IP network to use MicroSwitcher Plus, just plug it into any PC on the network.

I want to view the cameras via a telephone line...How can I do that?

Simply make sure that the MicroSwitcher Plus system (with the AC6408DIG/MPG option) is installed in a PC running Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0, add a modem, and you will be able to dial into the MicroSwitcher Plus computer by telephone from anywhere in the world, with full control to view cameras, control PTZs, lenses, and more.

Can I use a high-speed data line to access the MicroSwitcher Plus system?

Yes. In fact, you can access the MicroSwitcher Plus system via any type of Windows TCP/IP data connection from a simple modem right up to 100 Mbps (Ethernet). One can even run the MicroSwitcher Plus for networks on an ATM or Frame Relay network, wireless data links, and satellite links. If you can establish the TCP/IP connection, just plug in a MicroSwitcher Plus system and it will work.
