Ultrak introduces environmentalised WeatherDome series

November '99 Surveillance

Ultrak has introduced its new 6" discrete dome, designed specifically for installation in an outdoor environment. The UltraDome KD6 itself is designed for installation in dropped, hard ceiling, pendant and WeatherDome configurations.

WeatherDomes

Each UltraDome KD6 WeatherDome contains a thermostatically controlled 24 V a.c. heater and blower which maintains a comfortable operating environment for the integral camera, zoom lens and the UltraDome KD6 WeatherDome drive mechanism, maintaining internal dome temperatures to a few degrees C of ambient in warmer climates and comfortable above freezing under extreme cold temperatures.

Containing integrated high-resolution colour cameras with 16x zoom lens (and 4x digital zoom), slow shutter speed (1/4 sec, which provides low light colour performance down to 0,15 lux), the system also offers an optional high-resolution colour camera which converts to monochrome for extreme low-light performance.

The UltraDome KD6 WeatherDome features variable, manual speeds from 0,10°/s to 480°/s, at a maximum pan speed programmable between 120, 240 and 480°/s. A NEMA-4 enclosed TR-24/WS power supply with lightning surge protection is provided with every WeatherDome.

Aesthetically pleasing

Manufactured using the finest optically graded acrylic and vacuum forming process, which assures an optically-correct window for high-resolution video imaging, the WeatherDome environmentalised dome provides quiet, unobserved camera positioning since all movement is contained within the dome.

Its patented vaporised metal coating process (performed after dome formation, thus coating density is precisely controlled over the entire surface) results in a chrome or gold finish which is fully compatible with monochrome and colour camera systems.

Easy access to camera

Quick-release access to the inside of the upper dome is accomplished by simply rotating the lower dome/lens in a counterclockwise direction. The UltraDome KD6 WeatherDome includes a plastic-coated safety cable to prevent the accidental dropping of the lower dome/lens.
