Five-star security for a five-star hotel

November 2015 Fire & Safety, Integrated Solutions

In a move to increase safety of guests and employees alike, the Sheraton Warsaw Hotel has replaced an existing third-party fire alarm system with a Bosch fire safety solution. In addition, Bosch’s local partner ASD installed a voice evacuation system, which is tightly interfaced with the new fire panels.

The five-star Sheraton Warsaw is one of the most prestigious hotels in Poland’s capital. Located at Three Crosses Square, just a few steps from Lazienki Royal Park, historic Nowy wiat Street and the parliament, it offers more than 350 elegant guest rooms and suites, 18 meeting rooms for up to 650 people, an exclusive lounge and a collection of classy restaurants. Further, it has served as the temporary home of several foreign embassies.

After many years of operation, the hotel’s technical director and security manager decided to exchange the existing fire protection system and to install an innovative and modular solution covering both superior fire detection and intelligent voice evacuation. The design office Instel MM, which closely cooperated with the installer ASD in this project, designed a solution with two networked Bosch Modular Fire Panels Series 5000, which are operated via Remote Keypads Series 5000.

More than 1600 automatic optical and thermal fire detectors and almost 200 manual call points were installed in guest and meeting rooms, offices and public areas throughout the hotel. The Bosch Building Integration System (BIS) acts as a fire visualisation system and enables seamless integration and central operations of the fire panels and the voice evacuation system.

To ensure fast and safe evacuation in case of an alarm, the system integrator ASD installed the digital Praesideo public address and voice evacuation system with 29 amplifiers. It supports more than 1500 loudspeakers and enables distribution of highly intelligible and targeted evacuation instructions to different parts of the building.

Based on the BIS and an open and modular system architecture, Sheraton Warsaw now has an interfaced safety solution, allowing very cost-efficient operations with possibilities to expand and to adapt should requirements change in the future.
