First African certification programme partner

Axis Communications has announced that Meycom is the first certified partner in Africa to successfully complete the Axis Certification Programme. The certification forms part of Meycom’s ISO 9001 2008 programme.

Announced in March this year, the Axis Certification Programme is a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to ensuring that end-users get the most value out of their investment in security technology.

Axis opened its Certification Programme to all security professionals with the goal of validating their competence and skills in IP-based video surveillance. The exam is open to anyone interested in becoming an Axis Certified Professional and is offered by Prometric, a global provider of testing and assessment services.

“We are incredibly proud to be the first company in Africa to successfully complete the Axis Certified Professional exam. It not only validates that we are well-versed in the latest network video technologies, solutions and Axis products, but that we are also professionals in design, installation and maintenance techniques in network-based surveillance systems,” says Andrew Briton, director at Meycom.

“The prospect of having a formal certification process of this calibre lends immediate credibility to the video training efforts of integrators,” says Ettiene van der Watt, regional training and engineering manager, Axis Communications.

Axis Communications’ Academy offers a variety of classroom and web-based training along with tutorials and guides to help individuals prepare for the exam. The Axis training team will provide a one-day, instructor-led Axis Certification Programme prep-course for anyone wishing to brush up on their IP video knowledge before the exam.

The certification test is available at a cost of $150. For more details about the certification programme, please visit www.axis.com/certification
