Matlock security system provides new approach to vehicle protection

November '99 Asset Management, Transport (Industry)

A new, VESA approved, security system is winning widespread recognition and acclaim from vehicle owners, insurance companies and the security services as it provides effective in-vehicle protection. Called the Gat Vol Matlock, the system has recently been launched by Full Stop SA, the marketers of Gat Vol products in South Africa and internationally.

The Gat Vol Matlock comprises a robust hinged steel plate attached to the floor pan of any vehicle which, when locked into position, completely obstructs the vehicle's pedals making it impossible to drive.

The Gat Vol Matlock can only be released by a special key and Full Stop SA claim that the lock which holds the plate into position is completely unpickable while the plate and hinge are manufactured of high-tensile steel which cannot be drilled, cut or hammered away.

The effectiveness of the system has been recognized by the insurance industry with discounts on premiums of up to 11% available, provided the Gat Vol Matlock is fitted by an approved Vehicle Security Association of South Africa (VESA) fitment centre.

Installation takes only 30 minutes and when installed the Gat Vol Matlock is unobtrusive and does not damage the vehicle in any way. A free carpet is included in the fitment price. Activation takes only 2/3 seconds with the driver's foot flipping the Gat Vol Matlock into position where it automatically locks.

The Gat Vol Matlock is available from any VESA-approved fitment centre and costs R699.00 including VAT and fitment for all vehicles except for mini-buses where the cost is R799.00. Only two models are available which fit all makes of vehicles.

According to Phil Starling of Full Stop SA, "The Gat Vol Matlock took over eight years of research, development and international and local testing to perfect. However, within three days of its launch over 2000 units had been ordered by fitment centres and demand is continuing at a very strong level."

"Matlock provides the most effective deterrent against vehicle theft available in South Africa and this fact has been acknowledged by both VESA and the insurance industry," he adds.
