CathexisVision analytics benchmarked with FLIR

October 2015 News & Events, Surveillance, Integrated Solutions

Cathexis Technologies announced it has recently concluded a series of successful benchmarking tests using the Video Analytics Suite from the CathexisVision Video Surveillance software, in conjunction with a series of FLIR thermal systems cameras, supplied by Timeless Technologies.

“CathexisVision, using our latest advanced vector based tracking algorithms, exceeded the FLIR Systems benchmarking requirement in every instance for detection and false alarms rejection,” says Gus Brecher, managing director of Cathexis Africa and group marketing director of Cathexis Technologies. “It should also be noted that the benchmarking tests were completed during daylight, which is the worst-case scenario.” The tests were completed on the FLIR FC-348, FC-334, FC-324 and FC-313 cameras and ranges tested were from 55 to 275 metres.

• Thermal cameras complement the CCTV surveillance system by creating clear images in complete darkness from heat energy.

• The FLIR cameras in conjunction with CathexisVision video analytics drastically reduce false alarms.

• These algorithms allow cameras to be programmed to detect and extract only useful information, to provide only the most accurate and effective video and associated alarms back to the control room.

• In conjunction with the CathexisVision analytics, the FLIR cameras tested ensure accurate detection up to 300 m for perimeter detection as well as many other applications.

Cathexis has worked on a wide scope of projects and applications with FLIR Systems, including a number of high profile sites using the CathexisVision/FLIR combination for perimeter and other surveillance security applications.
