Security for mall in Mwanza

August 2015 Surveillance

Dahua Technology provided the surveillance technology to secure an ultra modern shopping mall in Mwanza, Tanzania’s second largest town and the economic heart of the Lake Region.

With the continuous development of the economy, the city needs a better business environment to meet the needs of its residents. Therefore, the Mwanza Municipal Council commissioned K&M Archplans to undertake the design and supervision of the ultra-modern Mwanza Shopping Mall, covering about 50 000 m² of shopping space.

The shopping mall has unique challenges that must be taken into consideration when designing an effective security programme. Dahua provided network dome cameras, PTZ dome cameras and zoom cameras, as well as NVRs and LCD monitors.

The cameras cover the whole shopping mall, especially the entrances and exits, halls, corridors and the parking lots. The mall will have a four storey market structure. Dahua put the network dome cameras and PTZ dome cameras primarily inside the mall and the zoom cameras on the outside to secure the whole building.

Internally, Dahua 2-megapixel full HD water-proof and vandal-proof network dome cameras, the HDBW5200, with a 2.7-12 mm fixed lens and a 2-megapixel progressive scan Sony Exmor CMOS processor was the best fit. Its IK10-rated vandal-proofing can prevent violent destruction.

Externally, the SD6A230-HN 2-megapixel full HD 30x ultra-smart network IR PTZ dome cameras protect the mall’s exterior and parking 24/7, recording high resolution images. Other than its high image quality, the PTZ camera provides a wide pan and tilt range, 0°~360° horizontally and -10°~90° vertically, delivering broad images of each scene and a complete picture of ongoing events. Moreover, the domes support 255 presets. With an IR range of up to 150 metres, it offers performance in any lighting conditions.

The Dahua security system ensures every person in the mall feels secure and welcome. The mall can now respond and control appropriately when special events happened.
