Over-producing ensures that customer's needs are met

November 2001 Infrastructure

As the end-of-year rush approaches, suppliers are heavily relied upon to keep up with the ever-increasing demand. Radio Data Communications (RDC) has realised this need and, as a result, has over-produced on a monthly basis to ensure that it has stock available immediately, all year round.

"This year ought to be no exception and we expect an increase in demand during the 'silly season'," explains RDC's Lee-Ann Andreka. "As is customary, we have radio transmitters on the shelf, waiting for your order. In addition, we have a buffer stock of over 6000 pre-tuned transmitters to cater for your requirements," she adds.

Service-orientated

According to Andreka, meticulous production planning allows for the company's five manufacturing divisions to manufacture according to growing monthly demands as well as adding to the buffer stock every month. "As a result, we have reached this point of stock and buffer stock holding through very innovative ideas, strict controls and great expense to the company, but we feel that our loyal customers deserve only the very best service. RDC will remain open for business during December, and only closing on national public holidays," she comments.

Further to ensuring that products are available on demand, RDC places a lot of impetus on quality and, more importantly, customer service. Evidence of this can be found in the fact that the company is willing to deliver orders of 10 or more transmitters in and around Johannesburg on a daily basis. "We deliver to Pretoria weekly for orders of over 10 transmitters," adds Andreka. "The company also offers discounts and welcomes call-off orders."

In addition, the company also has a 24 h standby team to deal with technical problems.
